Time travel stories have been a staple of the science fiction genre for the past century. Good science fiction stories often pay homage to the fundamentals of scientific knowledge of the time. Time travel, as portrayed in the movies, is an extreme version of this. In The Time Machine , the hero takes only minutes to travel years into the future. Time travel paradoxes arise from the fact that departure occurs after arrival according to one observer and before arrival according to another. In the terminology of special relativity time travel implies that the timelike ordering of events is not invariant.
Yet even these hindrances can be explained away! If the multiverse concept is reality, then most present ideas of time travel are based on a false reality. Yet the AAVP machine appears to offer the possibility of doing just that. A system, placed in an AAVP machine selected for negative time displacement, would evolve in reverse and grow younger.
Space, time, and light have been studied and the definitions have evolved as research has advanced. Looking at these concepts as they have been explained through history will help us understand what may be possible in the future. Space-time is a four-dimensional construct.
